Selous boost larger population of Elephants as well as large numbers of Buffalo, Hippo, Crocodile and endangered Wild dog. Commonly seen are pride of Lion, Bush buck, Impala, Warthogs, Ostrich, Giraffe, Eland, Baboon, Zebra, Hyena, Kudu, rare sable antelope and Leopard. In Selous there are more than 400 species of bird life: Fish eagle, Kingfisher, Secretary bird, Sunbird, Hammer kop, Red & Yellow bill stork, Open bill stork, Weavers, Water birds, Marabou stork, Vulture’s etc.

Udzungwa Mountains National Park is a sumptuous forested reserve, a rare tropical forest that is home to a realm of unique plants, birds and animals & the sacred preserve of hikers and walkers. These forests are remarkably unspoilt, a wilderness of extremely beautiful woodland routes – with no driving tracks at all, brings walkers to the spectacular 170 m drop of Sanje Waterfalls, with colourful and long ranging views of up to 100km across the Kilombero valley and mosaic of grasslands from the top. The greenish massive forest panorama drew an attention of backpacker alike; furthermore the park is a home of an important population of primates (10 species- more than in any of Tanzania’s other parks) as well as the grey faced sengi.

Ruaha National Park, the less visited South, lies deep in the South with its striking, rugged landscapes and abundant wildlife. The great Ruaha River that provides life to the park, flows through the eastern side of the park and is home to hippos, crocodiles and the bird count is over 400 species  of birds such as Racket Tailed Roller, Pale billed Hornbill, Shelley’s Sunbird and Hoopoes. Ruaha providing home to one of Tanzania’s largest elephant populations, famous for pride of lions, giraffe, grant’s gazelles, Leopard, Cheetah, Zebra, Giraffe, Buffallo etc  and rare or endangered animals such as Sable Antelope, Greater Kudu & Roan Antelope.

Mikumi National Park ,”The mini Serengeti” The open horizons and abundant wildlife of the Mkata Floodplain  the popular center piece of Mikumi. Commonly seen animals are Elephant, Giraffe, Zebra, Antelope, Wildebeest, Eland, Crocodile, Hippo, Baboon,  if you are lucky, won’t miss to see Lion & very lucky to see a Leopard, over 300 spices of birds are seen are saddle bill stork, hammer kop, malachite kingfisher, lilac breasted roller, yellow throated long claw, battler eagle etc. Another attraction: the Hippo Pools, where you can watch hippos wallowing and snorting at close range

ITINERARY

Day 1: Dar es salaam to Selous - 5 hrs drive

Meet & greet in Dar es salaam at 0730 hrs & drive with lunch box to Selous. Enjoy late afternoon thrilling boat safari on the Rufiji River where you will see hippos and crocodiles in their natural habitat. Overnight at Rufiji River Camp on FB Basis ( Lunch & Dinner).

Day 2: Selous

Foot-walking Safari to the Selous Game Reserve, starts early in the morning with the guidance of an armed ranger, takes 2 hours before you come back for breakfast and then drive back to the reserve for full day game drive with lunch box. Overnight at Rufiji River Camp on FB Basis (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner).

Day 3: Selous

Full day game drive with lunch box. Overnight at Rufiji River Camp on FB Basis (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner).

Day 4: Selous to Mikumi - 7 hrs drive

Early morning – Walking safari. Drive back to Mikumi with lunch box. Enjoy scenery, through crude road but one of the unforgotten safaris for the true traveler. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of landscape, which is dominated by Hills and Plains as well as part of the famous Miombo Woodlands, these varied habitats. Overnight at Camp Bastian on FB basis (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner) .

Day 5: Mikumi to Udzungwa - 1 hr drive

After breakfast, drive to Udzungwa for hiking till Sanje Falls. Enjoy swimming at the in the cool water hole at the base of the falls. Hot lunch at the lodge. Overnight at Udzungwa Forest Lodge on FB Basis (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner).

Day 6: Udzungwa to Ruaha - 7 hrs drive

After breakfast, drive with lunch box to Ruaha. En-route visit local villages & farms. On the way pass through the Kitonga hills which are part of the Udzungwa Mountains. The road then follows the Great Ruaha River and then climbs the Great Rift Escarpment. En-route visit Neema Craft. Overnight at Ruaha Hilltop Lodge on FB Basis (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner).

Day 7: Ruaha

After breakfast, full day game drive with lunch box. Overnight at Ruaha Hilltop Lodge on FB Basis (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner).

Day 8: Ruaha

After breakfast, full day game drive with lunch box. Overnight at Ruaha Hilltop Lodge on FB Basis (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner) .

Day 9 : Ruaha to Mikumi - 6 hrs drive

After breakfast, we head to Mikumi National Park for game drive. Additional activity If interested & have enough time: Maasai Walking tour can be arranged, 45 minute walk one way, spending 1 hr in Maasai Village with their morning activities like milking cow. Depart at 0600 hrs & expect to be back by 0930 hrs & depart back to Dar es salaam. The additional cost : Usd 20 per Pax.
